thanx for all ur advice! the mechanic who looked at my car said it would be ok for a while and he was meant to order the part and come back and fix it for me, that was 2 weeks ago.. I held off cos of this and I am single mum so hard for me to get money together, Ive got it booked in for saturday but in garage 30miles away as thats where my family is and im visiting them, does anyone have rough idea of cost? now panicking cos of the exhaust smell etc HHHEEELLLPPPP!!You might check the auto parts store yourself for the price of the motor mount they usually cost about $30 and it takes about an hour to install,,, By calling the parts store then your mechanic you can compare prices ,, most mechanics mark up the cost to make profit... You will have to ask him what his shop rate is Most vary from $60 to $100.. Also if the parts store is cheaper you can buy the part and have the mechanic install it ,,, Most times you can save a few bucks this way,,( the mechanic will balk at this and say they can't warranty the part but the are liable for correct installation
Hope this helps Good Lucknow you running 2 way with this, you saying you egine mount are bad, then said the exhaust , is bad, ok now on the mount, they going to run around 38,, an as the exhaust, with out seeing the problem, but to jusy guess, i say any where from, 5 , to 50,,, then their shop time, most start off at 30 to 50, then so much a hour, their afterProlly less than $100, but why not call the guy and axe him?
Don't panic-communicate!Be careful !! A broken motor mount can allow a engine to move and jam the controls ,,
If you are getting smells from the exhaust then it is likely broken and needs repair too.
Or it is against the body of the car and the exhaust pipe , which is hot is burning the paint off your car ,, not good and dangerous
.Is this a rear drive or a front drive model. I know the older ones were rear I don't kow if they changed to front on the newer ones though.
I would worry more if it is front wheel drive .
