  • Hello,

I'm looking for UK companies that purchase used business computers and software (and be willing to absorb all the stock in a fuss free
    transaction).

I realise that by having a single company purchase all the (unused)
assets will not achieve the best price for the equipment and software, but the objective is to dispose of them without warranty,
conveniently, cables and all, at a fair rather than high price.

    For example
    3 PCs
    1 Mac,
    1 ibook laptop
    2x 19 inch monitors
    1x 17 inch monitor
    1x 15 inch montor
    CD writer
    Scanner
    Digital camera

    Software such as
    Adobe Illustrator 9
    Adobe Photoshop 6
    Corel Draw
    and misc design software

The concern must be able to
    1. give a pricing for the more detailed list that I will email them
(with manufacturer names and model numbers)
    2. take all the assets even if it is 1 per software priced according
    to their interest in it.

I'm not looking for auctions like ebay, disposing to the public, or
    performing individual transactions.

    I've already tried:
    Trade in post
    http://www.tradeinpost.com
    KMH computers
    http://www.kmhcomputers.co.uk
    Computer Exchange
    http://www.cex.co.uk
and although on the surface they appear to purchase equipment, they
are not in the position to absorb all the assets.

An acceptable answer will be a list of 10, hopefully more targeted
than my own search results. Websites or emails for interested parties
willing to price for and absorb the assets based on my emailed list so I can get a feel for the range of prices offered by each concern.

My main problem so far, is using a suitable search strategy to find the companies I want.
    regards

  • Hello Lot,

Getting to 10 companies was an interesting chase, but the best resource I found was http://www.excite.co.uk/directory/Computers/Hardware/Used
the Excite UK directory for used computer equipment or
    http://www.linkspider.co.uk/Computers/Hardware/Used/
a similar list from the link spider. The search phrase I used for the top hits was used computer liquidation site:co.uk
which limited hits to UK sites (though I know a number of .com sites are in the UK, I decided to bypass them for the answer).
The following links were from the .co.uk domain so should be in the United Kingdom. I am also providing a few other suggestions at the end that may also be relevant.
    Data Systems
    http://www.data-sys.co.uk/services.php
we buy and sell computer systems ... we pay for good systems.

    EuroPC Online Computer Store
    http://www.europc.co.uk/cgi-bin/web.storefront
select "Sell your equipment" to get a form to enter the information.

    Jade Re-Marketing Ltd.
    http://www.jaderml.co.uk/
Select services to get a summary of their purchase process.

    PC Again
http://www.pcagain.co.uk/article.cfm?CFID=200265&CFTOKEN=88922911&catID=1&ID=11& they do recycling, refurbishment, remarketing, etc.

    The PC Store
    http://www.thepcstore.co.uk/Services.php
The page describes asset management (liquidating hardware and recover value), but the button does not work. Try the phone numbers or other contact links.
    Ravelle
    http://www.ravelle.co.uk/services-pages/Assetpro.html
provides purchase / resale of equipment.

    Silicon Micro
    http://www.siliconmicro.co.uk/excess.htm
not sure if this company will purchase your equipment - may be focused on parts and not systems.
There were also a number of sites (over 200) that were selling second hand PC's; some of them may purchase, but I could not find references on their sites. The UK sites are http://www.2ndchancepc.co.uk/
    http://www.cosuk.com/
    http://www.servicesource.co.uk/
    http://www.squaredealpcs.co.uk/
    as well as many others.

Another suggestion would be to donate it to a charitable organization. A non profit equipment recycler I found was at ttp://www.itmp.co.uk/home.htm
which may give you tax benefits that outweigh the income from selling the equipment. Also, the Computer and Electronic Equipment Recycling Association http://www.ceera.org/
which describes charitable donations, employee sales, and other options.

  • The equipment and software is used.
(The disposal is due to them being unused i.e. not deployed) sorry for the confusion.

  • Great stuff! Exactly the sort of sites I was looking for.
Nice resource listings from excite and linkspider too.
